Tales from
the Julie Reno Set
By : Stephanie
I got into Fox Studios with
the audience group for “Union Jackass” and as we were
walking, I was the last person, and I decided to break off from
the group. So I did, and I wandered into Stage 22. I just walked
in…. I have a hard time just calling and making a doctors
appointment, or ordering pizza (I make someone else do it) and yet
somehow I found theballs to just walk into the sound stage for Julie
Reno. I was so scared but I just kind of walked around until I saw
the set where everyone was working (the bar set) and I just stood
off to the side in the shadows basically. Then I saw Erin! They
were rehearsing for the final scene of the pilot (where she calls
him an “ass”, but apologizes for beating him through
“questionable” means). She would stand in the doorway
of the bar set waiting to walk into the scene (which is where all
of us were standing that were off to the side). I stood and watched
them rehearse and then film that scene for a good 3 hours (from
about 4pm until 7pm).
I went unnoticed for a while, but then I made friends
with the Lighting guys, and they taught me how to make knots, haha.
They asked me if I was visiting the set and I was like "uh,
yeah, kind of", and they were like with who? I told them how
I
just walked on, and they didn't seem to mind, they were even trying
to get me to go eat craft services but I told them no
because I shouldn't have even been there. I ran into the Script
Supervisor in the ladies room and she asked me the same
thing if i was "visiting" and I said yes. I asked her
how she thought the filming was going, and she said good, but how
it's
just a little tense right now because the scene they were filming
is going to be the last scene of the pilot so she said it has
to be just right.
Erin was really funny on set, I heard her saying
“Gosh” and “Come get some dinner!” (in full
on Napoleon Dynamite
voice). And she was singing, “We can dance if we want to”
(The Men At Work song, heh, because the director had said
something about dancing, I dunno). It was cute! At one point some
"network" people showed up and I heard them telling
some guy (I think he was a Julie Reno Producer), how “sharp”
the set looked (and it did, actually). Erin (as Julie) was
wearing a grey tank top, jeans, a brown belt, and boots (the outfit
looked kind of like Dana's from "Looking Back").
I stayed until they wrapped (7pm). Everyone was
leaving, and that’s when I went up to Erin (I didn’t
want to bother her
while she was working). I kind of was like “Hi, Erin”
and put my hand out for her to shake and she did, and I said
something like you guys did great today or something, and I said
how I was such a huge fan of hers, and she thanked
me. Then I asked for a picture, and she said yes, and she was like
“we can probably find someone outside to take it”. I
was like "I’m sorry, I’m really nervous" (because
I REALLY was) and she was all like "Aww, don’t be!"
and so we walked
out together, and she asked me something like what school I go to/what
I study, so we talked about that. We were
walking out the door and she said she forgot her umbrella and how
this weather was killing her (It had been raining ALL
day – which explains my messed up hair in the picture, sad).
So she got her umbrella and we walked out and she saw a
guy she knew and asked him to take a photo for us, and then how
she gets to go home (I was given call sheets by one of
the lighting guys, for today and tomorrows scenes, and Erin had
been there since 6:00 AM, poor thing). I was so nervous
that I could not smile for the picture, my lips were like actually
quivering – it was strange and had never happened to me
before. Anyways, I thanked her and said how I hope that Julie Reno
does well and she said thank you and “me too!”. She
was sweet. <3.
I'll probably have more details once it all settles.
Anyways, here's
the photo outside the sound stage where Erin looks
stunning (as usual) and I look scared/confused/wet
hair.

More random notes:
They kept changing the line at the end from [in the sides] "you
were a ****", to [in a few shots in the beginning] "you
were
an ass", to [towards the end of shooting] "you were a
jerk". Like with each take it just got progressively less and
less. I
hope they use the "ass" one though, Erin was so funny
when she said it... "you were an AAAss, but...", hehe.
She was talking on set to someone and said something
to the extent of knowing friends who like in 10 years from now
will be like "my kids...", and how she's gonna be like
"my dogs..." and I was like [in my head] "hey! Henry
and Max, aw, I
know them!", hehe.
The bar set was pretty colorful, and it had the
sign Booth's Bail Bonds and Bar, or something to that extent, and
that was
the only set I saw them film on. I did walk by the set that was
Julie's kitchen and living room, only I didn't get a very good
look, but it was very messy and very white trash.
John Wilkes Booth (aka Holmes Osborne) said "Hi"
to me and asked "How's it going?"
Vincent Ventresca and Erin seemed to work well
together. The last line of the pilot he says "Congratulations....
those are
some very pretty breasts." (they changed the line a few times
for different takes too, but that's basically the gist of what he
says). It was a cute moment between the two (because Erin turns
around and makes the best smile, "did you really just
say that" face).
I didn't take any pictures of the sets (I didn't
really want to draw any unnecessary attention to myself) but there
was a
woman talking photos/videos of the filming. Also, tomorrow's Call
Sheet (April 5th) has cast photo sessions listed to be
taken in the bar set!
